The fan mail keeps coming in as people are shocked and dismayed
that Melinda Doolittle, who did so much, was tossed off of American
Idol before winning the entire competition. Some fans though site
encouragement noting that Jennifer Hudson wasn't the winner of her
Idol either and look what kind of career she's had so far. Another
fan thinks that Melinda is better than Kelly Clarkson.

I saw the results today. I dont believe this, this proves to me
that American idol is rigged.
Not only are you 10 times better then blake but i think "they"
voted you out for the sole reason that if Jordan is standing next
to blake in the finals, Jordan would win.
If she would be standing next to you however, she wouldnt stand
a chance.
You've got a record contract coming your way anyway, if the producers
dont notice you this time theyre blind.
You've got the best voice i heared in a long time, i am a musician
for 20 years now and I've heared voices terrible and beautiful and
yours is really on the top 10.
You have an Aretha'ish voice, I dont know if you do it on purpose
but its something to be proud of.
And then there's your humble attitude that makes the picture complete.
never lose it.
(sigh) i really am angry at idols for voting you out, yes you can
say that the public did that, but i think thats NOT the case, i
think you have been set up. And i think there are a lot of people
who think the same.
I think you get a lot of mail like this right now huh?
I suggest doing it your own way and go to the producers yourself
, youre bound to get one, with your voice that shouldnt be a problem
at all. (EMI in holland is a good one)

God chooses how we are blessed. If you had won american idol, you
would have been tied down to their songs, rules, etc. When you make
your CD now, you will have liberty in every area to be creative
and man will not be your source it will be God. Remember you can
do all things through Christ who strengthens you. The Blood of the
Lord Jesus Christ speaks success for you he paid the price for each
of us to be the best, but He chooses how it comes about. God bless
you and I know you will be the star you have wanted to be. God will

Melinda, I am so upset about the show last night. I am one of those
people that believe that the votes are manipulated and I don't understand
how that show could justify getting rid of the only person that
has had flawless performances the ENTIRE season. I personally voted
the whole 2 hour period and during that time was only able to get
through 10 times, so I don't understand how your lines could be
busy all night without your amassing an enormous amount of votes.
This was my first year to watch AI and I can assure you it will
be my last. Those producers have spoken but so have your fans. I
am anxiously awaiting your 1st recording and best of luck to you.

I tried only a couple of times to vote and didn’t get through.
If I get some response from this email that it does at least get
too your fan site I’m going to draft another letter/email.
For now I’ll just say that although I’m so sad too of
seen you voted off, just my searching Yahoo with your name there
where over a million links too Melinda Doolittle. Which is just
a smidgen off what’s in store for you. You’ve made it
into the realm of career starting, I know you know this. So if I

I am a 58 year old Jamaican woman living in the Caribbean who has
watched American Idol week after week. Melinda has been the most
outstanding singing talent this season. Certainly several others
including the two finalists have been very good. But the fact is
that Melinda is the best. Maybe the whole idea of American Idol
is to chose the person who has the most appeal in terms of looks
etc which is the reason why the show uses public voting as its method
of selecting the contestants who will advance. If I were Melinda,
I would not even be worried, disappointed or upset at last night's
results. Girl you have demonstrated to the world in a clear and
unequivocal way that you are a top class talent who works hard and
consistently maintains a high standard of delivery. You are therefore
going to have more offers than you will ever be able to consider.
Melinda you are the best and you should know it by this. Girl you
are going to be one heck of a star in the very near future. Get
ready for it.

I pretty much stopped watching Idol a few years back when it became
apparent it was an opportunity to degrade those whose lack of “talent”
obviously was exploited maliciously. The “winners” were
chosen in a popularity contest, certainly not on their musical expertise.
Then my husband discovered you on Idol this year and we wouldn’t
miss seeing you and cheering you on. You and LaKisha were obviously
the most talented artists on the show. We were very angry and disappointed
when we discovered you were voted off the show. The voting itself
is a sham. People are encouraged to vote hundreds of times, unlike
Nashville Star, where each phone number has a limited number of
votes. This makes it easy for the teeny-boppers, who wouldn’t
know talent if it walked right up to them, to vote over and over
again for their heart-throb.
Please don’t be discouraged. Put your music out there. We’ll
all buy it and look forward to every CD. My husband and I decided
ahead of time that if you were voted off the show, we would never
bother wasting our time on it again, and that is a promise. I hope
Simon Cowell and the other producers of Idol get the picture when
their ratings drop because of this fiasco. Maybe they will start
trying to make this a REAL search for talent. Or maybe Idol had
just seen its day and it’s time to move on to something else.
