The fan mail keeps coming in as people are shocked and dismayed
that Melinda Doolittle, who did so much, was tossed off of American
Idol before winning the entire competition. Some fans though site
encouragement noting that Jennifer Hudson wasn't the winner of her
Idol either and look what kind of career she's had so far. Another
fan thinks that Melinda is better than Kelly Clarkson.

Hi Melinda. I have never got myself glued to American Idol this
much until I saw you performed and you would not believe how your
voice amazed me. I thought the results having you voted out was
totally crap. With due respect, I think Americans have trouble choosing
the RIGHT person who is equipped with the right talent and knowledge
bout music and above all a wonderfully gifted voice as the 'AMERICAN
IDOL'. Keeping Sanjaya in the competition for so long was a good
example. Nevertheless, I still think that you should just carry
on singing cos I am right here waiting for your first album to be
released.
Even if you are not crowned as American Idol, you are already an
idol to many of your fans in every part of the world. You have got
what it takes to be a real singer - not just about fame but really
into music.. the passion for music. It's pretty difficult to find
one talented singer like you these days who with your voice alone
is enough to make everyone turn their volume louder. Please do not
feel you are out-done by the top 2 but giving them the opportunity
to receive the kind of support which you already have even without
being the winner.

You are on of the most talented singers ever to be on American
Idol! As a professional vocalist myself, who never made it as far
as you but who is also extremly talented, I was rooting for you
all the way! America unfortunately doesn't have the best judgement
when it comes to musical talent, as I have come to realize many
times! You have a wonderful career ahead of you. Keep singing and
sharing your gift with others, that is the true joy in having a
beautiful voice! And don't ever let anyone tell you that you are
too old to be successful! I'm 47 asnd finally finishing my music
degree and singing more than ever. I think singers get better with
age, we have so much more to offer the listener in terms of emotion
and expertise!

I still think you should have won American Idol. I think America
dose not know how to pick there idol because you and Chris Doughtry
are proble the best performers on that show. So don't give up! God

You may have heard this comment previously, however, I think Simon
was the cause of your getting the sad news. I think so many viewers
dislike Simon that when he indicated he was personally going to
put you in the finals Blake got your votes. (Vote for the worst
group) IMHO
Next comment: Consider doing an album with songs made famous by
Ella, Dinah, Etta---Linda did quite well when she recorded and album
of classics. I think Simon is all wet when he dislikes older music
sung by younger women. What he fails to realize is these songs are
still sung because the music is and will remain good forever, in
sixty years most of todays music will be lost IMHO. Do America a
favor and record great songs-you might be surprised how many older
fans you have.

I watched American Idol faithfully knowing that you were by far
the best of the group! I could not believe that you were voted out
this past week after all the positive remarks the judges made every
week. I hope you will not be discouraged by this as you have a wonderful
gift and you have a fan base already who would be ready to buy any
cd's you make. I want to send you best wishes from Canada and hope
that you will go on with your music and thank you for the joy you
gave us watching you progress every week.

My name is Candy. I am a big fan of the show and have been a big
fan of yours from the beginning. I wanted to say you have an amazing
voice, that I know from my own vocial training. You can do things
vocially that most cannot do. Though I am a bigg fan of all three
of you (Blake, Jordan, and you), and had a hard time myself deciding
who I thought should leave, you were always the one I thought should
stay, and should win. I believe the only reason you left was because
everyone knew it was between Blake and Jordan and they rushed to
vote for them, believing you, with your talent, were automatically
safe.
Also, you have represented our Father very well and I know He is
very proud of you. I was so excited to find out you was a Christian.
Its nice to know you are my sister in Christ. I cannot wait to buy
your album.

sometimes stumble…and sometimes things that happened may not
be what we wanted. But success is not based on getting a trophy,
or winning millions of dollars, or being a star, being a celebrity
and what not. Success is not about self-worth….but how worthy

I hope this message finds its way to you. I was so shocked at the
AI's Tuesday night's results. I and many others believe that the
whole AI voting system is rigged. And, just what do teenagers know
about anything!!! Certainly not great music. I am a widow in my
fifties and just loved every song you sang. You truly are a beautiful,
talented, magnificant, humble performer. Every song you sang just
gave me chills. I love listening to smooth jazz. I'll be waiting
to hear you on your own CD SOON!!!!

Hello...I was extremely disappointed in the results show last night.
Melinda is a rare talent. She is a wonderful singer and should not
have been ousted last night. It makes me wonder if the show is fixed.
Come on...Sanjaya, a guy with NO TALENT still on until the final
7...GIVE ME A BREAK! Melinda should have won it all. She is just
amazing on-stage, taking on this extremely confident persona. After
the song and judging, she turns into this "OMG am I really
this good" person. And YES she really is that good.
I wish her all the best in her future carreer and hope to be able
to buy her album after it comes out. The TRUE SHINING STAR of American
Idol is gone, but will never be forgotten.
